Bogdan Tudorache There is no danger of rising gas and electricity prices, told energynomics.ro Niculae Havrileț, State Secretary for Energy within the Ministry of Economy (MEEMA). Although the Minister of Economy (MEEMA), Virgil Popescu, had stated that he would issue an order explaining the need to cap gas prices, this order was no longer issued, Havrileț said.

Bogdan Tudorache Utility companies would need a cash flow of about 600 million euro a month – or 1.8 billion euro for three months – to cover a possible deferral of payment of electricity and gas bills, State Secretary for Energy within the Ministry of Economy (MEEMA), Niculae Havrileț, told energynomics.ro , “This is the estimated cash flow required for the market to operate under normal conditions, according to estimates of ACUE members,” Havrileț said.

Austrian OMV Group plans to expand its current four billion euro cost reduction program, said CEO Rainer Seele, who added that it does not rule out the possibility of resorting to lay-offs due to the coronavirus crisis and the collapse of energy prices, Reuters reports. A number of large oil companies have announced that they are reducing their capital expenditures for this year by 25%, or nearly $55 billion, after the oil price was cut by half.
