Trade agreements with Hampshire mean businesses in the county are securing lucrative deals that could be worth millions of pounds.

Investments in Greece’s energy sector are expected to reach 32 billion euros by 2030, excluding investments in hydrocarbon research, General Secretary for Energy Michalis Verriopoulos said Tuesday during an event organized by the Energy Institute of Southeastern Europe on technological developments in the sector. This figure will be included in detail in the energy plan for the period 2020-2030 which will soon be unveiled for public consultation, Verriopoulos said.

Poland’s state-run energy company PGNiG has struck a 20-year deal to buy liquified natural gas from the US, as the country pushes to reduce its dependence on imports of Russian gas. PGNiG said on Wednesday that the contracts signed with subsidiaries of US group Venture Global LNG would provide it with 2m tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) per year, or 2.7bn cubic meters of natural gas after re-gasification. The deliveries are due to start from 2022, according to Financial Times.

Germany will cut a green energy surcharge on consumers’ electricity bills by 5.7 percent next year, but savings for households will be limited as other fees are expected to rise. Germans pay the highest electricity bills in Europe as state-induced taxes and fees account for over 50 percent of power bills. German power network operators (TSOs) said on Monday that revenues collected to support green electricity are high and wholesale market prices have risen, allowing renewables producers to rely less on subsidies.

The Board of Directors of Electrica SA and General Manager Cătălin Stancu agreed to terminate their collaboration starting with November 1, 2018, the company announced in a press release. The Board of Directors will immediately begin “a transparent recruitment process through the Nomination and Remuneration Committee” to select a successor. In order to ensure continuity, the Council has appointed Corina Popescu as interim Chief Executive Officer of the Group. Since June 2018, she is Managing Director of SDEE Muntenia Nord.
